Hollywood Rant
I’ve been doing the daily TMZ reports on the 4pm newscast for a couple months now, and I’ve become deeply engaged in the various happenings of the Hollywood celebrities. It’s now part of my job to be “in the know” about who’s getting married, who’s splitting up, and who got a DUI over the weekend. So now that I’m informed, I thought I’d dish a little of my own opinion on the top stories.
First of all, Hollywood is crazy. Of that, I’m certain. There must be something in the water out there. This whole Chris Brown/Rihanna thing….what is she thinking taking him back??? He beat her senseless! She is so young and beautiful that she could have anyone she wanted. I think she may be making the biggest mistake of her life. That being said, I do believe people can change, so I hope Chris Brown can be reformed. I’m not alone in my opinion….Oprah dedicated an entire show this past week to the subject of Rihanna and domestic abuse.
And seriously, what is up with Joaquin Phoenix? There’s speculation that all this crazy stuff he’s been doing lately is Andy Kauffman-esque. But if he’s trying to impress us all with his creativity, he’s going to have to step it up a notch. Rapping and assaulting people in his audience is just plain silliness. I’ve always admired Joaquin’s acting, especially in one of my favorite movies, Clay Pigeons. If he put this much energy into his roles, he might just be able to win a coveted Oscar just like Heath Ledger. A uni-bomber beard and chewing gum? C’mon, Phoenix, you can do better than that.
Lastly, I’m getting tired of how all the celebs can do whatever they please and get away with it. Ordinary people suffer extraordinary consequences, and famous people should have to be just as careful as the rest of us. Money can solve a multitude of sins, but conducting oneself in a humble manner has wealth beyond limousines and lawyers.
Whew. It was really good to get that off my chest. Take that, thirty mile zone!
