Trying Something New

Earlier this week I was asked whether or not I cooked. My response got me thinking. I said, “no but I can”…I mean obviously, most people “can” cook. I “can” also most likely jump out of a plane if I had, to but I wouldn’t really consider myself a skydiver. Anyway, I usually don’t cook more than simple things and not so creative creations involving chicken and veggies. So, I decided I am going to cook using a new recipe at least twice a week. That way, by the end of the year, I will have (hopefully) mastered several dishes. I’ve been watching cooking shows, exploring recipes, and so far this week I have cooked two meals that I would absolutely make again: chicken picatta and generic salmon.

The chicken picatta was soo easy to make! It was just basically boneless chicken breasts sautéed in salt, pepper, and lemon juice before being fried in a pan with butter and olive oil. Once the chicken was done I removed it from the pan and then added capers, more lemon juice and olive oil to make the sauce. Then I added the chicken back to the pan with the sauce for a little bit and it was soon ready to go.

The salmon was very easy to make too as most people probably know…but for me it was a big deal because I’m usually afraid to cook fish! But I did it, and it tasted good!!!

Any suggestions on what I should try next?
