D’OH….

September 9th, 2009 at 2:12 pm by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

I’m not sure why, but I’ve had an icredible stream of bad luck lately. If you’ve ever heard the phrase, “Wow, if you didn’t have bad luck, you wouldn’t have any luck at all, ha ha”….yeah I’ve heard that one a lot lately.

First of all, my transmission went out (it actually died one day in rush hour traffic after doing my daily TMZ report) and it has created problems ever since. After another trannie from the junkyard, (which also died) I am once again waiting for the car to be fixed, and now I’m completely without a vehicle. Bummer.

One day recently I opened up my credit card statement to find many charges that I did NOT make. I have no idea how some horrible person got my credit card number, but I’m just happy that the company did not hold the charges against me.

I had tickets to the Shinedown/Staind concert and had tucked them away in a safe place: my purse. Well, one night at the restaurant where I work, unbeknownst to me, the coffee pot overflowed and and the inside of said purse got soaked. To make a long story short (which it really isn’t) the tickets were ruined. I freaked out, but my GM here at FOX Toledo and sales-guy Russ helped me get it all worked out.

In additon to all that, I’ve had some ongoing health problems (nothing too serious) and it seems like little annoying things go wrong. Every. Single. Day.

I’ve really been trying to keep my chin up….people usually refer to me as an extremely positive, carefree person. I’ve even been referred to in past months as “happy-go-lucky.” Needless to say, I haven’t felt that way as of late. But things seem to be slowly improving, and my FAITH is strong.

Just wanted to share a little piece of my world with you. And if you’re one of those people who have GOOD luck, please send some my way!
:)

The Voting Has Begun!

August 28th, 2009 at 11:47 am by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

First, thanks to everyone who came to try out for the Face of FOX Toledo.  I for one know that it is a very brave thing to do!  You should all be proud of yourselves for taking that step.

Second, the top 50 are now online at www.FOXToledo.com and you can vote for your favorite person.  The person with the most votes will automatically make it into the top ten.

How to vote?  Simply watch your selection all the way through, from start to finish.

I’m sort of sad to be handing over the reigns to someone else, but I’m excited to see who gets my job!

Good luck everyone!

Face Auditions Take 2

August 23rd, 2009 at 10:29 pm by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

Here it is! The second installment of the brave ones who came out to show their stuff & try to take away my job. (The coolest job in the whole world, by the way.)

Enjoy!

Face Auditions Take 1

August 17th, 2009 at 1:09 pm by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

I can’t believe I have to give my job away to someone else, but I guess the time is near. The first round of auditions took place this past Saturday. If you missed that one, come out to Ed Schmidt Perrysburg this Thursday from 3-8 to give it a whirl! Btw, if you tried out & didn’t make it into this reel, never fear. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything….some of my video footage just wasn’t worthy, due to sound, etc.

So here it is…footage of some of the great people we met!

If You’re Trying Out Tomorrow….

August 14th, 2009 at 7:36 pm by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

If you’re trying out tomorrow for the Face of FOX Toledo competition at Appliance Center (10am to 3pm), here are a few things that might help.

1. Be yourself!  The judges want to see your personality.

2. Be prepared to talk for a bit about why YOU should be the next Face.  Mention anything that seems relevant.

3. Be enthusiastic!  Even if you seem a little over the top, it probably won’t come across that way.

4. Be aware that the next Face will not enjoy the duty of performing TMZ on the 4pm newscast daily.  That is a job that dies with me.  The segment is being discontinued after September 11th because TMZ the program will air right after the news.

5. Don’t be nervous!  I know that’s easy for me to say, but just remember that I am one of the judges, and I once stood where you will be standing.

I’m so excited to see what kind of talent shows up tomorrow!  It’s going to be really hard to give up this job to one of you, because I enjoy it so much.  I’ve pretty much had the time of my life!

Good luck & God bless!  :)

Julia

Deep-Fried Oreos and More…

August 9th, 2009 at 5:56 pm by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

I spent last Friday evening at Monclova Homecoming Summerfest 2009.  I tried to go a little “Food Network” style in my flip video, all the while revealing my blond-ness.  ( I may have shorted the amount of days in a year by about five. It’s all good, though.)  Then I interviewed Happy the Clown, and boy, what an experience that was!  I tie it all up in a nice little bow by trying the gyro-bungee.  I know it’s not spelled like that, but you’ll see why.

Enjoy this piece of video heaven. :)

Julia, Shaun, & Doug head to Monster Jam

July 27th, 2009 at 12:44 am by Julia Johnston under Face of FOX Toledo

News Team Assemble!!!! (That’s a quote from Anchorman, one of my favorite movies of all time.) I headed to Monster Jam this past weekend, and I had a little help from the FOX Toledo news team. Friday night featured Anchor Shaun Hegarty, and Saturday night featured Meteorologist Doug Moats. It was lots of fun, and here’s the video to prove it.
