Merry Christmas

December 23rd, 2011 at 10:43 pm by under Uncategorized

I can’t believe that it is already Christmas Eve-EVE! This month has zipped by.  I can’t complain though, because Christmas really is one of my favorite holidays.  I’m looking forward to spending time with the people that I love the most…my FAMILY, and of course, seeing if Santa brought me anything I’ve been wishing for :) .  I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas, and enjoy being with your family and friends.  Talk to you next week.

Christmas is coming

Time is ticking away until Christmas, and I am super excited.  Mostly because this my first Christmas with my husband.  We have been busy trying to make our very own family traditions, along with picking out and decorating our first tree.  Here are a few pictures. :)

Time to break out the Crock Pot

December 2nd, 2011 at 6:42 pm by under Uncategorized

The combination of being on the night shift, and the weather getting colder has made me want to break out my crock pot for meals.  I must say, the convenience and yummy factor are enough to convince any non-believer.

Recently I made loaded baked potato soup.  It was amazing.  Check out the recipe, and give it a try if you’re in the mood for soup on a chilly day.

How about a little shake and bake?

I’m in the mood to do some baking this weekend.  I recently got a gorgeous hot pink stand mixer that I have lusted for and had several dreams about.  It was a wedding gift.  I’ve used it a few times, but I’m thinking that it’s time to kick things in to overdrive and bake up a few batches of cookies and maybe some other tasty baked goods. I need to get my arsenal of killer recipes together for the upcoming holiday :) .  Have a great weekend.  We will wrap on how it went next week.

I won’t ever be ready for snowmen…

November 11th, 2011 at 7:15 am by under Uncategorized

As I was driving back to the station from doing a story yesterday, I saw something that made me do a double take.  Little, white, pieces of precipitation! Frankly, it OUTRAGED me! Although I know that it is about that time for us to start getting  snow, it just makes me cringe.

I’m from Michigan. I have lived there 22 years of my life.  So I know a thing or two, about white stuff.  Mother nature piles it on, and piles it on THICK there.  My college graduation was CANCELLED due to a foot of snow.  However, each year it still hits me like a ton of bricks.  I hate snow, I hate being cold, I hate the sound it makes under your feet.  I’m much more of a sunshine, sun glasses and flip flops type of girl.  So I will be glad when that time of year rolls back around again.

As promised…

Here are the pictures of my little pup on Halloween.  Too bad he couldn’t eat any candy.

Halloween goes to the dog

I’m pretty excited that I have “someone” to dress up for Halloween this year… my PUP! I purchased the cutest Turtle costume for him a few weeks ago, and I can’t wait to put it on him.

This is also the first Halloween for my husband and I.  I’m hoping that we actually get some trick-or-treaters.  I will post some pictures next week.  Have a good weekend everyone!!!

Too much to stomach

October 21st, 2011 at 7:13 am by under Uncategorized

Working in news, you get the opportunity to see a lot of things, that you may not see in your everyday life.  Somethings are amazing and extraordinary, others are gruesome and heart breaking.  Often times we see more of the latter.  Because of that some media vets get desensitized to seeing those kinds of things.

I have a confession, I’m not there.  My heart hurts when I see mothers crying because they have lost a child.  I wince when I see a bloody crime scene.

Yesterday as I watched coverage of the Death of Libyan dictator Gadhafi, I couldn’t help but think… this is gross.  Yes the world needs to know the story, but do they need to see him shot and bloody, being dragged through the streets, do they need to see his lifeless body, with a bullet wound to the head?  I understand that his death meant many things to many people, and many nations.  There is no question about that.  As a member of the media I understand that this story should be covered. This post isn’t about what he did or didn’t do, or if the story should be covered.  It is about how much is too much,  and what can be stomached.

Put a face with the voice

Do you ever wonder who the person is that you listen to on the radio in the morning?  I know it feels like we know them because we get to know so much about them.  SOOOOO…. I’m doing a series that will give you a face to face introduction to your favorite on air personalities.

This has by far been one of the most fun projects I have done.  If you’re interested, tune and check it out :) . Every Wednesday at 10.

October, already?

September 30th, 2011 at 6:33 am by under Uncategorized

I can’t believe that today we are saying good-bye to the month of September.  It really feels like this year is FLYING by.  I have already started seeing Christmas stuff in the stores!

Although, this means colder weather is on it’s way, (which I hate, by the way.) I guess I will be excited about cute sweaters and boots, and hot drinks while it’s not terribly cold.  I think I’ll kick off the season change by hitting an apple orchard or something like that with my hubby.  Talk to you all next week.
